What sector signal means
Every sector on Argos Wire carries one of three signal labels — Favorable, Neutral, or Unfavorable — derived from a composite score that blends regime fit, macro rule activation, news flow, and price momentum. The label is a directional summary, not a recommendation: it tells you which way the cross-asset evidence is leaning today.
- Favorable means the sector scores 6.0 or higher. Tailwinds dominate: the prevailing market regime, macro rules, and news flow are aligned with the sector. Historically, favorable sectors are where active stock pickers find the largest pool of high-quality long ideas — though even favorable sectors still produce losers, so security selection matters.
- Neutral means the score falls between 4.0 and 6.0. The evidence is mixed. The regime may favor the sector while news flow drags, or momentum is constructive while valuations are stretched. Neutral sectors reward selectivity over directional exposure — the sector ETF may go nowhere while individual stocks separate sharply.
- Unfavorable means the score is below 4.0. Macro and flow are working against the sector. This does not mean every stock inside it will fall; high-quality names can still outperform their group during difficult periods. But sizing exposure here typically requires a stronger bottom-up thesis than in favorable sectors.
Signals refresh daily and can flip with the market regime. Use them as a framing device — a way of knowing which questions to ask first — not as a mechanical trading rule.
